Groups

A Group in YouIn allows you to organize keep the different events you organize and attend separated and easily invite different people from your various friend groups. In the same way that you wouldn't want to invite all of your music friends to a frisbee game, all of your frisbee friends probably won't be interested in your Thursday night jam sessions.

Why Use Groups?

The main benefit of using a group is that every event that is created within the group is treated as a special Group Event. Group Events are special in that they will automatically invite all group members to the event.

Creating a Group

To create a new group, navigate to the Group discovery page and click the plus button in the bottom corner. You'll be asked to give your group a name and a description. Once the group is created, you'll be able to invite your contacts or share the group using a QR code, share-link, or share-sheet.

Group Roles

As your group membership grows, it can be useful to designate some of the organizer activities (like scheduling events, admitting new users, moderating event chats, etc.) to other members of the group. In order to perform these activities, you must have the Organizer role within a given group. When you created your group, you were automatically set as the group's only Admin, which also includes all of the Organizer permissions (see below).

Organizer Role

The Organizer role allows a user to create new events within a group and manage members of the group (approving/denying join requests, removing users, moderating event chats, etc.).

Admin Role

The Admin role has all the same privileges as an Organizer, plus the ability to designate other users as either Admin's or Organizers.

caution

Be careful! When you designate another user as an Admin, they will then have the ability to revoke your Admin and Organizer roles, and ultimately remove you from the group!
